The Stagcom 25th July Round Up

I don't know about you but that weekend flew by! Time flies when you're having fun and I imagine most of you will have been out there making the most of the glorious British summer we had over the weekend!

In the world of sport, it has been another record breaking weekend so if you've been in the sun topping up the tan or manning the barbecue let us tell you what you may have missed.

England Control

England took control of the Second Test against Pakistan on Day Two and Day Three of the Test over the weekend and should wrap up victory over the next couple of days.

An impressive double century from Joe Root helped England reach 589-8 before they declared on Saturday. England were then able to rattle the tourists out for a modest score of 198 to give Alastair Cook's side a commanding lead!

England surprised many by not enforcing the follow-on and deciding to go back out to bat for the second innings. England put on a score of 173-1 this morning before declaring again and Pakistan now need a mammoth 565 runs to win the match. Looks like England will level the series at 1-1 and it's just a matter of when.

Hamilton Number One

Lewis Hamilton is at the top of the championship for the first time this season after a comfortable win at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

It was Hamilton's fifth win in his last six races and the British driver is now firm favourite for the title over his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg; who could only manage a second place finish in Hungary.

Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo briefly threatened Hamilton's dominance midway through the race, but the Australian's challenge faded and he had to settle for third place on the podium.

Froome Breaks Record

Chris Froome became the first man from Britain to win the Tour de France three times when he crossed the finish line of the 21-stage in Paris on Sunday.

The Team Sky rider followed up his wins in 2013 and 2015, and becomes the first rider in over 20 years to defend his title.

Since Bradley Wiggins became the first Briton to win the race in 2012 there has been a British dominance in cycling. Froome dedicated his third victory to the victims of the attack in Nice last week.
