The Stagcom 31st January Round Up

This week, we bring our weekend round up to you slightly later than normal, but it's for good reason. Some of the biggest talking points of the weekend were undoubtedly the FA Cup shocks, and we wanted to wait until last night's fifth round draw to reflect on the action.
There was plenty more to talk about from the weekend, so let us take you through all of the talking points!

FA Cup

Who says the magic of the cup doesn't exist anymore? Well, that theory was put to bed at the weekend after a whole host of shocks and the respective teams have been rewarded with the fifth round draw.

The first game of the fourth round saw a huge shock as Wolves went to Anfield and beat Liverpool 2-1; they have been rewarded with a fifth round tie at home to Chelsea!

National League side Lincoln City produced one of the biggest shocks of the round, with a 3-1 win over Championship leaders Brighton. Next up, they will face Premier League opposition as the draw sees them travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley.

Oxford United shocked Newcastle United with a 3-0 victory on Saturday and have also been rewarded with a trip to a Premier League outfit. They will travel to the Riverside Stadium to take on Middlesbrough in a couple of weeks' time.

The lowest ranked team left in the competition are part-timers Sutton United, who claimed a famous victory over Leeds United on Sunday afternoon. The fifth round draw could not have gone any better for them, as they will face Arsenal at Gander Green Lane. Without doubt, that has to be the tie of the fifth round!

The Greatest

In case anyone doubted it, Roger Federer reaffirmed his status as the greatest ever player to grace a tennis court with a remarkable Australian Open title win on Sunday. Federer claimed his 18th Grand Slam title with a thrilling five-set victory over old adversary, Rafael Nadal.

It seemed written in the stars that we would be treated to a classic match, and the pair produced one of the most memorable major finals of all-time. In the final set, Nadal broke Federer early on and looked as though the title would be his as he led 3-1. But, Federer rolled back the years and won the next five games to win his fifth Australian Open!

Series Levelled

India levelled the Twenty20 series with England after winning by five runs in Nagpur on Sunday. After restricting the hosts to 144-8, it looked as though England would chase down their target with relative ease.

However, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a brilliant final over to snatch victory away from England; but there was controversy surrounding it. With England needing just eight runs from the final over, Bumrah dismissed Joe Root and Joss Buttler, only conceding two runs. Root's dismissal was the controversial one, despite an inside edge, he was given out for LBW!

The three-match series now comes down to a decider in Bangalore tomorrow afternoon, as England look to claim a solitary series win from their tour of India.
