The Stagcom 7th March Round Up

Well, well, well! This weekend has been a shocker, from surprise UFC upsets to daft red cards all over the Premier League.

Shock Upsets at UFC 196, as Diaz Destroys McGregor and Tate Stops Holm

Everyone sat down for UFC 196 expecting Conor McGregor and Holly Holm to win their respective fights. They were unpleasantly surprised. Nate Diaz forced McGregor to tap, and Miesha Tate put Holm to sleep using a rear naked chokehold!

Hats off to McGregor for jumping up two weight classes to face Diaz, but he was out of his comfort zone. Conor quickly tired out and Nate took advantage.

As for Holm vs Tate, this was more evenly matched. Holm came prepared, but she wasn't ready for the takedown power of Tate.

Leicester Pull Clear at Top of Premier League

Leicester City ended the weekend five points clear of Tottenham Hotspur, appearing strong against Watford.

Not long until the Vardy Party can properly begin. With nine games to go, it's looking likely that Lineker will have to present Match of The Day in his pants. The face of MOTD Tweeted earlier in the season that he'd do the first programme for the 2016-17 season in just his undies—and just this week, he backed up his claim online. Lineker Instagrammed a pic of himself on holiday, wearing swimming shorts, with the comment 'Rehearsals for #motd are going well'.

One cheeky gambler cashed out his £50 bet on Leicester City to win the Premier League for £72,000! Seems weird to think that back then, odds on a Foxes win was 5000/1...

Idiotic Red Cards in the Premier League

We've seen some stupid bookings, but these take the prize! This weekend, it turns out that Francis Coquelin, Kevin Mirallas, James Milner and Juan Mata have forgotten the simple rules of football.

Maybe they thought you can still take an opponent out after a yellow card? Whatever it was, after four idiotic second yellows, we question the price these guys are worth!

WTF Story of the Week: Acrington Stanley Robbed of Goal Because Ref Blows Half-Time Whistle One Millisecond Before

Have you had a reason to get mad recently? No? Well we hope you're ready for the most infuriating, arrogant and mean-spirited piece of refereeing you'll ever see.

In any normal game of football, the referee doesn't stop play while a team's on the attack. After an expertly crafted goal opportunity by Accrington Stanley's Billy Kee, half-time was called as the ball hit the back of the net.

Players were understandably furious, but protests were futile as the score remained 0-0.

Finally, congratulations to top lad Sir Bradley Wiggins on his cycling gold medal, and to Andy Murray on winning a five-set thriller in the Davis Cup.
