England vs Wales Review
How are the heads today, lads? Many of you will have carried the celebrations long into the evening following England's dramatic win against Wales - and we don't blame you!
So often over the years, England have been on the other end of late goals, even as recently as the weekend match against Russia. Finally it was time for England fans to go wild when Daniel Sturridge scored a late winner!
We've picked out a few of the key moments and talking points from yesterday's game, just in case you couldn't get out of the office for the match!
Hart Trouble
Gareth Bale broke the deadlock just before half-time with a dipping free-kick from distance. It was a clean strike from the Real Madrid forward; however Joe Hart will be disappointed to have been beaten from that range considering the shot wasn't right in the corner.
The Manchester City 'keeper got down to the ball, but could only palm it into the net. Hart is one of England's most established players and is clearly a leader, which means his place will still be secure, but anymore blunders could result in Roy Hodgson considering his options.
Sterling and Kane Failure
With England 1-0 down at the break, Hodgson had to act. He turned to the bench to introduce Jamie Vardy and Sturridge and it didn't take a genius to work out who would be replaced. Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane were the men to make way after less than impressive first half performances.
Sterling looks a player shot of confidence at the moment and a far cry from the player that Manchester City paid £49m for. The wide man didn't complete any successful dribbles in the first 45 minutes and he is almost certain to be dropped to the bench for the Slovakia game.
Kane has also looked a shadow of the player that finished the Premier League season as top scorer, as he failed to cause the Wales backline any problems. In the Spurs striker's defence, his supply was limited, but as with Sterling, he is another who will most likely be replaced on Monday night.
Vardy and Sturridge Shine
Sterling and Kane's exit gave opportunities to Sturridge and Vardy - and the pair duly delivered! Ten minutes into the second half Vardy latched on to a loose header from Ashley Williams to score and become the first ever Leicester City player to score for England at a major tournament.
Fellow substitute Sturridge then became the hero deep into stoppage time. The Liverpool striker weaved his way into the box and surprised Wales 'keeper Wayne Hennessey with a poked effort that squirmed in at the near post. Cue wild celebrations from the England players, coaching staff and fans alike.
England face Slovakia in their final Group B game on Monday evening and a win would secure top spot for the Three Lions! Is everyone feeling a lot more optimistic about England's chances after yesterday?
