How to deal with your Christmas hangover

It's the ultimate question, isn't it? You've spent the night getting hammered and having the time of your life, without ever stopping to think about the consequences. But when you wake up the next morning you're greeted by your old arch nemesis, the hangover. All of a sudden your mouth is drier than the Sahara desert, it feels like a sumo wrestler is dancing on your head, your stomach is tied up in knots and the thought of leaving your bed is the worst thing imaginable!

Hangovers are a bitch at the best of times, but even more so over Christmas. With so much going on there's no chance you can spend the whole day wallowing in self-pity, not leaving your bedroom. So the only thing that's left is to try and beat your hangover and make yourself feel human again. Everyone has their own favourite hangover cure, and the team at Stag-nights.co.uk HQ is no different. Here are a few of our favourite hangover cures.

Hair of the Dog - The Bloody Mary

Some men will swear by the 'hair of the dog' hangover cure method, while others will gag at the thought of more booze. For those of you who need another drink to beat your hangover, the Bloody Mary is the ultimate cocktail. Different bars will put their own twists on this classic drink, but this is our favourite recipe.

The Stag-nights.co.uk Bloody Mary

  • Double shot of vodka
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 6 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 dashes Tabasco sauce
  • ½ teaspoon freshly grated horseradish
  • 150ml/5fl oz tomato juice
  • Pinch salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 stick of celery

Pour the vodka, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, tabasco, horseradish, tomato juice, salt and pepper into a jug and stir well using the stick of celery. Put a few ice cubes into a highball glass and pour the drink into the glass, then give it a final stir with the celery and enjoy!

The Full English Breakfast

After a heavy night on the booze, getting a good, filling breakfast in your stomach is a sure fire way to start your recovery. Forget your cereal, your bagels, and your porridge; if you're feeling like death, nothing beats a full English breakfast! At Stag-nights.co.uk, we believe in the go hard or go home way of thinking, so make sure everything is there - bacon, sausages, eggs, black pudding, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and toast. If you're feeling particularly grim, why not pair it with a Bloody Mary for the ultimate cure?

Sex

There is no scientific reasoning behind this method of defeating your hangover, but a good roll around in the sheets seems to work wonders! Maybe it's just that you're taking your mind off your hangover, maybe it's the rush of endorphins that come with sex, or maybe it's just working up a sweat. Personally, we don't care what the reason is!

Good luck guys!
