Spectre sets record for car smashing, and the most ridiculous reasons for pulling a sickie.

Spectre Sets Record for Car Smashing

In addition to beating Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by taking £40m in its first week at the box office, Spectre has set a new record for cars written off on film.

'We set the record for smashing up cars on Spectre,' revealed Gary Powell, Spectre's chief stunt coordinator. He told the Daily Mail they 'wrecked millions of pounds worth' in Rome alone, and that the cars were shooting into the Vatican at speeds of around 110mph.

According to the Guardian, over £24m of cars were written off during filming.

Will Daniel Craig return for a final outing as Bond? The actor is now being pretty vague about it after saying he'd 'rather slash his wrists.' Now he's changed his tune, telling one interviewer: 'I say things when I feel it, then I change my mind.'

Most Ridiculous Reasons Given for Pulling a Sickie

One in five British people pulled a sickie in 2015, according to a new YouGov poll. February 2nd was the day most people called in sick, and it cost the economy a cool £34m. Some of us felt the need to get pretty creative with our reasons. Here are some of the most ridiculous.

  1. 'A tin of baked beans landed on my foot.'
  2. 'I was swimming too fast and smacked my head on the poolside.'
  3. 'I've been bitten by an insect.'
  4. 'My car handbrake broke and it rolled down the hill into a lamp post.'
  5. 'My dog has had a big fright and I don't want to leave him.'
  6. 'My hamster has died.'
  7. 'I've injured myself during sex.'
  8. 'I've slipped on a coin.'
  9. 'I've had a sleepless night.'
  10. 'I am hallucinating.'

So, what have we learned? Keep it simple when you're pulling a sickie and avoid pissing the boss off.

Who Said He'd 'Rather Lose than Win for Mourinho?'

BBC Radio 5 LIVE presenter Garry Richardson has revealed that one Chelsea player has said he'd 'rather lose than win for Mourinho.' During the Sportsweek show, he said his information came from a Chelsea first team player via a sports contact. Rumour has it that the mood in the Chelsea dressing room is a bit on the bleak side.

Richardson said: 'I was told they're fed up with the way he's been dealing with some of them. They're fed up with his outbursts. I was told that his relationship with Eden Hazard was under immense strain.'
