The Stagcom 27th September Round Up
We bring our weekend round up to you a little later this week due to some big news on Monday evening regarding England manager Sam Allardyce!
Along with the shocking undercover newspaper revelations about Big Sam, we will cover all of the weekend's sporting action in a nutshell, below.
Big Sam in Bother
Last night, The Telegraph revealed an undercover meeting they set up with England manager Sam Allardyce. Big Sam was recorded saying that he knew how to get round certain FA rules surrounding third-party ownership and said he would be open to the idea of representing a far-east business for a six-figure sum.
The England boss has also been reported to have criticised his predecessor 'Woy' Hodgson, as well as the mentality of English players and the way the FA have used Wembley Stadium. We will let you make up your own mind on whether he should carry on as national team boss or not.
Clubs Lay Down Markers
Over the weekend there were a number of convincing performances in the Premier League, as the table continues to shape a more familiar look to it. Manchester United blew champions Leicester City away 4-1 in the early kick-off at Saturday lunchtime. United scored four first-half goals in the space of 20 minutes to put the game beyond the visitors and with it put a silence to some of the Jose Mourinho doubters.
Manchester City made it six wins from six with a 3-1 win away at Swansea, to leave them with a four-point cushion at the top of the league already. The returning Sergio Aguero bagged a brace, with Raheem Sterling grabbing the other to seal the win.
Liverpool continued their impressive form with a 5-1 thumping of Hull City. Jurgen Klopp's side look in irresistible form going forward this season and goals from Adam Lallana, Saido Mane, Phillipe Coutinho and James Milner (2) put the Reds into the top-four.
The side above them in third-place, Arsenal, also produced a convincing display to beat London rivals Chelsea 3-0. Alexis Sanchez got the Gunners on their way after dispossessing Gary Cahill, before goals from Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil sealed the result.
Wasps Continue Perfect Start
Before the weekend's fixtures in the Aviva Premiership Wasps, Saracens and Bath all boasted 100% records, but only one now remains. That record belongs to Wasps who won their fourth consecutive game at the start of the season 20-15 away at Northampton to sit at the top of the table.
Saracens succumbed to a disappointing 17-10 defeat at the hands of Harlequins, which didn't come as a surprise to many as the reigning champions' early results had masked some below-par performances.
