Where to get the best beer in Barcelona
When it comes to planning a stag weekend, Barcelona's rightly reputed as El Jefe. It's got everything a growing boy could want: hyper-strong lager; the most famous football stadium, occupied by the best team, in the world; an actual man-made beach right next to the city; and more smokin' hot senoritas per square metre than you're likely to find anywhere else in Europe. La Fira, C/Provenca 171
Barca's maddest bar is helpfully located indeed: just a few blocks away from the Placa de Catalunya, down a back street bang in the middle of the city, you'll find the weirdest drinking hole in Catalonia. La Fira means 'The Fair', and the bloke who named the place really isn't kidding! You can sink your cervezas in an actual dodgem, play on the old fairground machines and lose your sense of perspective in a re-housed Hall of Mirrors. Apparently, the feller who owns the place carted the wreckage of a disused carnival all the way from Germany. Mentalist.
La Fira's mainly a local's place, thanks to its hidden location. Be very specific if you take a cab, or you could end up at an actual funfair somewhere completely different!
Blue Lounge, Carrer de Sagues 37
Just off the Avinguda Diagonal in the Sarria-Sant Gervais district of Barcelona, you'll find the Blue Lounge. We reckon it's the friendliest trendy bar in the whole city. Packed to the gunwales with arty types after midnight, the Blue Lounge's late late dance floor heaves with heavenly senoritas. Striking up conversations with strangers is the order of the day here, so if you see a lady you like buy her a drink and get stuck in. You'll get a big help from the cocktails, which are insanely strong!
Boadas, Tallers 1
If you're looking to live the high life on your stag weekend, Boadas is where you come. It's Barca's most venerable cocktail bar, and one hell of a hip destination for lads on the lash. Come early to mingle with the hottest locals in town, who use Boadas as a starting point for their night out. Rumour has it there are celebrities to be found mixing with the local talent. Who knows? You could end up pulling Penelope Cruz. We're just saying.
